Steve Andrews was born and raised in Orange County. He was exposed to the art world from a young age; his Mom, Maxine Andrews, painted amazing images using acrylics, oils and watercolors.
Fate brought Steve and Conrad Schwable together in the ’60s. They earned livings in electrical, while pursuing various creative endeavors, such as classic cars and art. After Conrad studied collaborative lithography at Tamarind Institute in Albuquerque, NM, earning a Master Printer certification, he and Steve partnered to form the Ocean Works Press in Newport Beach in the late ’70s, with Steve as Director.
At Ocean Works, Steve worked with Artists from all over the world. Those collaborations were extremely influential. Steve attributes his expressive style and passion for color to Veloy Vigil and Patrick Coffaro.
Steve’s journey has continued to involve art. He has created lithographs, linocuts, stained glass, sculpture, and continues to educate folks about stone lithography.
Steve Andrews uses mixed media to create dynamic works in vivid colors, shapes and textures.
