Creating is what I do! I love to play with colors on fabrics especially silk. After taking silk painting classes from Jill Targer at Hancock Community College, I took off p laying with colors. Creating scarves and wraps is a favorite art form. But now, I am learning to sew hand-painted fabric into couture garments.
After 38 years in education in Santa Maria and Montclair, California, I finally have the time to pursue my artistic side. Although my mother and sister are excellent representative artists, I am more into impressions and feelings. Let the color flow!
As a member of the Silk Painters International, I organized the 2012 international conference and now assist the local chapter in many areas. As the 2014 Program Chairperson for the local chapter, I have been responsible for four glorious Silk Fashion Shows featuring our local silk painters’ wearable art.
My creations are on exhibit in the Valley Art Gallery’s in Old Orcutt and their showcase at the Santa Maria Airport. As a member of the Los Padres Artists Guild I participate in their many events throughout the year. Other venues in which my work has shown are Vina Robles Winery, Castoro Cellars, Arroyo Grande Harvest Festivals, Autumn Arts Grapes and Grains in Santa Maria, Halcyon Fairs, Harvesting Hope Festival at Trilogy, Nipomo Street Faire, Arroyo Grande Women’s Club Artisan Faire and Tiber Canyon Artisan Markets.
